Our Beliefs

GOD…

God is the creator and ruler of the universe and infinitely perfect. There is only one living and true God eternally existing in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.  (Genesis 1:26)

THE FATHER...

Our Heavenly Father is supreme, omnipresent, omniscient, sovereign and He is the Alpha & Omega. He is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He desires an intimate personal relationship with His people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from the power of sin and death all who come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ.  (Isaiah 64:8)

JESUS CHRIST…

Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth and proved Himself to be the Messiah verbally and through His ministry. Jesus’ death on the cross and his resurrection paid the penalty for our sin and provides eternal life for those who believe in him and put their trust in Him. He ascended to heaven’s glory and is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High. He is now our High Priest. Jesus will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  (Matthew 16:13-17, Romans 10:9)

THE HOLY SPIRIT…

We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by God to transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ. He lives in the hearts of believers and helps fill, comfort, and empower the believer for godly living and service through individually bestowed spiritual gifts and talents. He provides the Christian with the power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, conviction of sin, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians, we seek to live under His influences and submit to His ways daily.  (2 Cor. 1:21-22, John 14:15-17)

MAN…

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Man is the supreme object of God’s creation. Even though man has incredible potential for good, he is flawed by a human nature of disobedience toward God called sin. This sinful human nature separates man from God.  (Genesis 1:27, Ephesians 2:1-6)

THE BIBLE…

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is our ultimate and final authority for faith in practice, and the complete revelation of His will for salvation. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are God's complete and sufficient revelation for the total well-being of mankind.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

SALVATION…

Salvation is a gift from God to us. We can never make up for our sin by self improvement or good works; only by trusting in Jesus as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s consequences. We believe the shed blood of Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.  (John 3:3, Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9, 10:13)

BAPTISM…

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and it is our public affirmation that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Baptism does not save us, but shows the world that we have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates our love and obedience to Christ.  (Romans 6:3-5)

COMMUNION…

Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is a command given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember His sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood on the cross. Communion is not a means of salvation, rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross and is to be observed by the Church during this age.  (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

CHURCH…

We believe that the Church is the radiant bride of Christ, a universal spiritual body made up of believers who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, each of whom is a vital part of God's plan. It is part of God's nature to be loving and relational. God created us to be in community. He desires to have a relationship with us and for us to relate with others. The church is the place where fellowship and community happens. The Bible commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of baptism and communion, and fellowship. Service to the church body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world is the fulfillment of the command of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all believers.  (Revelation 19:7)

ETERNITY…

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him in Heaven is eternal life. We believe that all who admit their sin, believe by faith that Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross paid for their sins, and then receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord are no longer separated from Him, but become eternal children of God. We believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to receive eternal life.  (Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46)
